22nd Dokuchaev’s readings took place in Saint-Petersburg

The International Scientific Conference XXII Dokuchaev Conference for Young Scientists «Soil as the System of Functional Connections in Nature» took place in the Saint-Petersburg State University and in the Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchaev from 25th February to 2nd March, 2019.

At the Opening of the Conference performed with greetings:

― Boris F. Aparin, professor of the department of soil science of the Saint-Petersburg State University, scientific supervisor of the Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchaev, vice-president of the Dokuchaev Society of Soil Science, Dr.;
― Takashi Kosaki, President, International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS), Prof. Dr.;
― Kirill V. Chistyakov, director of the Institute of Earth Sciences of the Saint-Petersburg State University, vice-president of Russian Geographical Society, professor, Dr.;
― Elena Yu. Sukhacheva, director of the Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchaev, associate professor of the department of soil science of the Saint-Petersburg State University, PhD.;
― Alexey V. Rusakov, head of the department of soil science of the Saint-Petersburg State University, professor, Dr.

There were more than 190 reports from students, PhD students, young scientists and more than 40 reports from school children. There were participants from Russia’s cities (Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Perm, Tomsk, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kazan et. al.) and also from other countries (Germany, Hungary, Egypt, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Uzbekistan, Finland).

As a frame of the Conference there were reports of 9 lines of soil science: from fundamental sciences ― physics and chemistry ― to private fields of knowledge ― Investigation of the Soil – Vegetation system.

Session on the topic «Mendeleev periodic table in soils» devoted to the 150th anniversary of the discovery of Mendeleev periodic law of chemical elements and tour of the Museum ― archive of D.I. Mendeleev took place at the Conference.

Abstracts of the Conference’s participants will be published in «Materials of the XXII Dokuchaev Conference for Young Scientists». Reports that have received the high ratings will be published in the periodical of the St. Petersburg University and the Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchaev «Materials for the Study of Russian soil» (Issue 11(38)).
